Sanix Energy Restarts Operations at Tomakomai Power Plant



We sincerely apologize to the people living in the threatened area and those suffered great trouble and anxiety as a result of the fire on February 25, 2007 at the Tomakomai Power Plant (Tomakomai City, Hokkaido; Plant manager: Masataka Kurosawa) of Sanix Energy Incorporated (President and CEO: Kozo Inoue), one of our group companies.

Since the fire was extinguished, we have been working on restoration toward ensuring prompt resumption of safe operation of the Tomakomai Power Plant under the guidance and supervision of regulatory authorities. The plant restored its operation on June 12.

1. Restarting Operations
  Jun. 5   Discussion with related government agencies was concluded.
  Jun. 8   Discussion with members of the community was concluded.
  Jun. 12   Power generation restarted.

2. Influence on the Business Performance of the Group
The influence of the fire has been included in the forecast for the fiscal year ending in March 2008 that we announced on May 16, 2007.

The power plant has taken the fire incident seriously, and plans to review and intensify disaster prevention measures in operating the facility, paying thorough attention to safety measures.
